New High Tech Condoms Feel Like The Real Deal
Condoms have been around for hundreds of years, yet there have been very little technological improvements to them in the last few decades. Until now…
Safe sex just got better thanks to Shengxi Chen, a biochemist at Arizona State University who has invented a new high-tech condom that is stronger and more comfortable than ever before. The new condom is said to mimic human skin, so it doesn’t even feel like you are using one. Instead of the traditional latex or sheepskin, Chen’s condom is made from a hydrophilic material that has 1.7 times more strength, which means fewer tears!
Chen has been working on this project for two years after being hand-selected by the Bill and Melinda Gates Foundation. The foundation recognizes that condom use is not where it should be, as some estimate that global use is only at 5%. The mass spreading of sexually transmitted diseases is another reason the Foundation wanted to build a better condom.
This new high-tech condom has been patented but requires additional funding to make it through clinical trials and FDA approval. The process can take up to two years, but Chen is confident that with adequate funding, they should have no problems passing all of the tests.
Well, we hope you’re right Chen!
